What cookies we use
Watchtower uses a small, fixed set of cookies. We do not use any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. Every cookie below is set by Watchtower itself ("first-party"), and none of them are used to track you across other websites.
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| watchtower-session | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and remembers your session between page loads. | Session (expires when you close your browser, or after 2 hours of inactivity) |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Strictly necessary | Protects you from cross-site request forgery attacks on forms and actions. | Same as the session cookie |
| cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers the choice you make in the cookie banner below, so we don't ask again every visit. | 1 year |
| ax_theme | Functional | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so pages render correctly before any JavaScript runs. | 1 year |
Strictly necessary vs. functional
"Strictly necessary" cookies can't be switched off: they're required for the site to work at all (staying signed in, security), and don't require consent under GDPR/ePrivacy. The one "functional" cookie is optional: if you decline it, dark/light mode still works during your visit, it just won't be remembered the next time you come back.
Managing your preference
Use the button below to reopen the cookie banner at any time and change your choice. Browsers sending the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal are treated as having already opted out of functional cookies, and never see the banner.
